What is OCBP?

Goals

The Project’s goals inform the summer staff’s work and, ultimately, each student’s experience. The end result is that students are equipped as leaders to return to their campuses.

Leadership

Students will develop the attitudes, vision, motivation and skills necessary for doing ministry when they return to their campuses in various leadership positions.

Evangelism

Students will come to understand their responsibility to share the gospel and will learn skills for relational evangelism through the following activities: classroom training, weekly contact work, house events, accountability and discussion of evangelism during one-on-one meetings with their mentor.

Bible Study Training

Students will learn basic skills to lead a Bible study, using inductive methods for preparation and leadership. Students will receive assistance, nurture and feedback from staff.

Local Church Commitment

Students will worship at First Presbyterian Church of Ocean City, attend or lead a Sunday school class, and serve the church in many ways throughout the summer. We encourage partnership and service to the church while we seek to impart a vision for students’ life-long involvement in a church community.

Practicing Healthy Piety

Students will broaden and deepen their understanding of healthy piety through prayer, corporate worship, and Scripture study. This will include exposure to varied styles of devotional materials, with accountability and encouragement to try different styles. Students will also engage in discussion about how the Project impacts how they live out their faith.

Community Living

Students will be held responsible in relationships and in tasks. They will receive guidance and nurture from staff in the areas of servanthood, conflict management, communication skills, trust and vulnerability. Students will create a network of relationships characterized by love, service, accountability, and encouragement as they meaningfully engage one another throughout the summer.
