Do we get a job while we are there?
The first week that you are in Ocean City will be spent primarily looking for a job. Some general types of employment students have held in the past include the following: boardwalk shops, construction or landscaping, cleaning, grocery store work, fast-food clerk, etc. Upon acceptance to the Project, you will be sent a list of prospective employers and are encouraged to make initial contacts by phone prior to arriving at the Project.
What does the schedule look like?
We will have two three-hour sessions per week on various Christian topics and biblical issues taught by various Christian speakers. You will be involved in a group meal and recreation times, worship and Bible studies. There will meet weekly for one-on-one discipleship with a CCO staff worker. You will receive a few books to read in preparation for what you will learn during the summer.
What should I bring?
You should pack linens for a single bed, blanket or bedspread, pillow, towels, toiletries, a swimsuit (or two), a few nice outfits for church, nice summer clothes for work, casual/play clothes, a sweater or jacket for chilly nights, an alarm clock, a Bible and a notebook. You may also find it helpful to bring a fan, a small lamp, and a small cardboard set of drawers, crates or a small trunk for storage. Feel free to bring sports equipment or games.
Where do we stay?
We will all live together in a large beach house at 632 Wesley Ave, Ocean City, NJ 08226.
Where do we worship?
We all worship together at the First Presbyterian Church of Ocean City.
How many students participate?
On average, 26 students and four to five staff members attend the Project each summer.
What about payment?
A deposit will be due upon your acceptance to the Project. We do encourage you to raise your funds and we will work with you on raising your funds.
